I live in California and exploring options to insure my family if I quit my job and become self-employed. I see that the coveredca silver plan costs more than COBRA plan offered by my current employer. I may choose to use COBRA for 18 months, will Cal-COBRA be available to extend this up to 36 months? Can I switch to exchange based insurance next year from COBRA (or Cal-COBRA) if the exchange based insurance is cheaper at that time?
